Chef Andy Ricker, James Beard award recipient for his take on Northern Thai cuisine, decided to create his own drinking vinegars after finding them in local Asian markets in Portland, Oregon. “I found drinking vinegars years ago in an Asian market, brought them home, tried them out, and thought, ‘Damn, that’s good!’ It’s sour and sweet, and it goes great with the food.” Now Som, which translates to 'sour' in Thai, is used in all nine of his Pok Pok restaurants for cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks.

Made in Portland, USA with all-natural ingredients, Pok Pok Som makes for a delicious and refreshing drink with tart and sweet bright fruit flavours. It’s a perfect mixer for cocktails, and delicious served as a non-alcoholic beverage. Drinking vinegar for health reasons is an age old practice in many cultures around the world. Dating back to colonial times,“shrubs” were a common tonic enjoyed by all.

Pok Pok Ginger Som

The heat and bite of ginger is perfectly balanced with sweetness in this syrup. It's earthy with a dry finish and moderate acidity.

Pok Pok Tamarind Som

Piquant and complex with hints of cinnamon and allspice, Tamarind Som has a dry finish and mild acidity. Tequila and bourbon mix brilliantly with Tamarind Som.

Pok Pok Pomegranate Som

Brimming with tart berries and rose petals, Pomegranate Som has a sweet, refreshing finish and moderate acidity. Vodka and gin are great mixers with Pomegranate Som.

Pok Pok Pineapple Som

Bursting with tropical flavours and undertones of coconut and star fruit, Pineapple Som has a sweet finish with mild acidity. Rum is a natural mixer with Pineapple Som.

Pok Pok Turmeric Som

Exploding with herbaceous, floral and citrus flavours Turmeric Som has a bright acidity and sweet finish. Turmeric has been used in Asian cuisine for centuries and is recognised by its bright yellow colour.
